PHNOM PENH, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia currently has a total of 18.98 million internet subscribers, Minister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth said here on Thursday.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a Ministry of Post and Telecommunications' conference, he said about 18.28 million have subscribed to the mobile internet service and 708,234 to the fixed internet service.
The Southeast Asian country also has 20.6 million mobile phone subscribers and 31,601 fixed phone users, he added.
The numbers of internet subscribers and telephone users exceeded the country's total population of 17 million because some people have subscribed to more than one internet or telephone services.
"Currently, 4G mobile network coverage has reached 82 percent of the kingdom's land area and 93.2 percent of the population," Vandeth said.
He added that the ministry is committed to expanding telephone service coverage to all areas throughout the country by 2027. Cambodia has four mobile phone operators, four fixed phone companies and 39 internet service providers. ■
