RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Former Sporting Lisbon and Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has been appointed manager of Cruzeiro, the Brazilian Serie A side said on Tuesday.
Jardim replaces Fernando Diniz, who was sacked last week after the club's poor start to the season.
"I'm very happy to have signed for Cruzeiro. I'll see you soon," Jardim said in a short video posted on Cruzeiro's social media accounts.
The 50-year-old agreed to a contract that runs until the end of 2026 and is expected to arrive in Belo Horizonte later this week.
The announcement came just hours after he ended a turbulent two-month spell in charge of the UAE Pro League outfit Al Ain.
Jardim, who was born in Venezuela before relocating to Portugal at a young age, began his managerial career in 2003. ■
