BISHKEK, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Forty-seven people were killed in Kyrgyzstan as a result of fires in 2024, the press service of the country's Emergencies Ministry said on Tuesday.
The ministry reported that 3,148 fires occurred in Kyrgyzstan last year, causing material damage estimated at approximately 10.1 million U.S. dollars. As a result of the fires, 47 people died, including 7 children, while 27 others sustained burns and other injuries.
The Emergencies Ministry also noted that 3,498 fires were registered in the country in 2023, resulting in material damage amounting to 16.1 million dollars. During that year, 35 people lost their lives, including 6 children and 31 others were injured. ■
