TEHRAN, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The 43rd Fajr Film Festival opened in the Iranian capital Tehran Thursday evening.
The opening ceremony featured guests such as Iranian Culture Minister Seyyed Abbas Salehi, President of the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs Raed Faridzadeh, as well as the country's artists and filmmakers.
According to the festival's official website, 33 Iranian features will participate in the main competition section of the event, which lasts from Friday to Feb. 10.
This year, the festival's international section will be held separately, and the date will be announced soon.
Being Iran's most prestigious cinematic event, the Fajr Film Festival takes place every year on the anniversary of the victory of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution. ■
