OTTAWA, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Jordan Stolz of the United States completed his golden hat-trick at the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Calgary, Canada as he captured the title of the men's 500 meters on Sunday.
Having reaped victories in the 1,500m on Friday and 1,000m on Saturday, the 20-year-old American crossed the line in 33.85 seconds, only 0.16 seconds off the track record he had set at last year's World Single Distance Championships.
"I felt like, technically, I raced really well, although I was a little tired from the last two days," Stolz said.
Jenning de Boo of the Netherlands, who had finished runner-up to Stolz in Saturday's men's 1,000m race, finished 0.02 behind for another silver.
"(When I crossed the line), I was celebrating, but then again not all-out, because I saw that I was just behind (Stolz's) time. It was a little short, but good enough for me. Next time I hope to get past him," said de Boo.
Damian Zurek of Poland took home a bronze in 34.07 seconds.
Stolz's compatriot Greta Myers clinched her career first World Cup podium finish as she clocked eight minutes and 36.64 seconds to win the women's mass start. Chinese Jin Wenjing also took her career first podium in second with the bronze medal going to Michelle Uhrig of Germany.
"I'm so happy that I finally was able to stay on my feet for a full mass start finally. It's been a rough couple of World Cups with unfortunate falls. I fell in Hachinohe (Four Continents Championships), Nagano (World Cup I) and Beijing (World Cup II)," Myers said.
The Americans also triumphed in the men's team sprint with a winning time of 1:16.98 while the women's team sprint gold went to Canada.
Also on Sunday, Timothy Loubineaud of France snatched the title of the men's mass start and Femke Kok of the Netherlands claimed the victory in the women's 500m on 37.01 seconds. ■
