YANGON, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's major city, Yangon, welcomed over 240,000 international visitors in 2024, the official The Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Monday.
Most international visitors, primarily from China, Thailand, and South Korea, arrived by air through Yangon International Airport, the report said, citing Aung Thet Htun, deputy director of the Yangon Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
Meanwhile, around 1.9 million domestic tourists traveled to Yangon via various modes of transport, including rail, road, and air, during this period, it added.
To further boost the hotels and tourism sector in the Yangon region, collaboration is underway among the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, the Yangon Region Government, the Myanmar Tourism Federation, the Myanmar Hoteliers Association (Yangon Zone), and other relevant organizations, it said. ■
