BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Spanish defender Jose Martinez has joined Chinese Super League (CSL) club Yunnan Yukun as a free agent.
"Effective as of today, Spanish player Jose Antonio Martinez officially joins our club," the Yunnan side said in a statement on Friday.
"We believe that his arrival will bring remarkable improvement to the overall strength of the team," it added.
Prior to his move to China, the 31-year-old defender has played one year at the Spanish second-division club Cordoba CF.
Yunnan Yukun secured promotion to CSL after clinching the title in the Chinese second-tier league last season. ■
