ISLAMABAD, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended condolences to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over the loss of precious lives in a deadly fire incident, according to a statement issued by the prime minister's office.
In a telephone conversation held with the Turkish president on Thursday, the Pakistani prime minister expressed solidarity with the people of Türkiye.
"The entire Pakistani nation is saddened by the news and is praying for the departed souls and for the speedy recovery of those injured. The people of Pakistan stood in full solidarity with their brothers and sisters in Türkiye," the prime minister's office statement quoted Sharif as saying.
The prime minister also lauded the swift response by the Turkish authorities in dealing with the unfortunate incident, and offered to extend any assistance that may be needed in this regard, said the statement.
More than 70 people were killed in the devastating fire at Türkiye's Kartalkaya ski resort in northwestern Bolu province, according to the Turkish interior ministry. ■
