Cambodia, Pakistan eye closer cooperation in trade, investment

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met here on Tuesday with visiting Pakistani Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, discussing ways to boost bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

During their talks at the Peace Palace in the capital Phnom Penh, Hun Manet highly valued and expressed his satisfaction with the relations between Cambodia and Pakistan, said a news release from the Prime Minister's Spokesperson Unit.

He said Khan's visit to Cambodia for the first Cambodia-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee Meeting "not only expands investment opportunities but also fosters cooperation in other potential sectors", the news release said.

Both sides also "discussed promoting, strengthening, and expanding cooperation in several key sectors, including the economy, trade, investment, health, education, agriculture, technology, manufacturing, tourism, and people-to-people ties", it added.

Hun Manet briefed Khan on the support and measures implemented by the Cambodian government to ensure the success of the private sector, which plays a vital role in driving economic growth and improving the living standards of the Cambodian people.

During the meeting, Khan expressed his satisfaction with the strong relations between Pakistan and Cambodia, saying that this progress has contributed to strengthening cooperation in various fields between the two countries, according to the news release.

Khan arrived in Cambodia on Sunday for a three-day visit to boost trade and investment between the two nations.
