YANGON, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's police have seized 700,000 stimulant tablets in Shan state and Mandalay region, according to the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint anti-narcotic task force intercepted a vehicle in Taunggyi township of Shan state on Jan. 4 and confiscated 400,000 stimulant tablets.
Under the follow-up investigation, 300,000 additional stimulant tablets were seized in Thazi township of Mandalay region on Jan. 5, it said.
The seized drugs had a street value of 650 million kyats (about 309,000 U.S. dollars), it added.
The suspects who were involved in the case were charged under the country's law, and further investigations are ongoing, the CCDAC said. ■
