KABUL, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- A total of 40 Afghan inmates imprisoned in Pakistan have been set free and returned to their homeland Afghanistan, the country's Ministry for Refugees and Repatriation said in separate statements on Tuesday.
According to the ministry's statements, 19 detainees were imprisoned in Pakistan for two months to five years; after being released, they returned to Afghanistan on Monday. Meanwhile, 21 undocumented Afghans imprisoned in Pakistan have been set free and returned to their homeland on Sunday.
The ministry also said that 45 Afghan detainees had been released from Pakistani jails and returned home three days ago. ■
