Chinese shuttlers sweep into finals in all five events at Malaysia Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese shuttlers maintained their strong form in the semifinals at the Malaysia Open on Saturday, as they reached finals in all five events.

World No. 1 men's singles player Shi Yuqi triumphed over his compatriot Li Shifeng 16-21, 21-5, 21-12, and will face Denmark's Anders Antonsen in the final.

In women's singles, Wang Zhiyi cruised past Thailand's Pornpicha Choeikeewong 21-16, 21-12, and will meet South Korea's An Se-young for the title.

In men's doubles, Chen Boyang and Liu Yi defeated Malaysia's Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, earning a spot in the final against South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae.

In women's doubles, Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian overcame teammates Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning in a tough 91-minute battle, winning 19-21, 21-16, 21-17. They will face Japan's Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto in the final after the latters eliminated Chinese pair Li Yijing and Luo Xumin.

Mixed doubles pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping defeated Malaysia's Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei 21-19, 21-14, and will compete against Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran for the championship.

The Malaysia Open continues through Sunday.
