BELGRADE, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Serbian basketball champion Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) secured an 85-69 victory over Paris Basketball at the Belgrade Arena in the 20th round of the Euroleague on Friday.
Despite the visitors surging ahead with a 9-0 run led by TJ Shorts, Red Star rallied to level the score at 39-39 by halftime, thanks to Dejan Davidovac's impressive performance in the closing minutes of the second quarter.
As the game progressed, Paris' shooting accuracy began to decline. Red Star, who sat sixth in the standings prior to Friday's matchup, took control midway through the third quarter and never relinquished its lead, securing its 12th win of the season and overtaking its French opposition to fifth place.
Isaiah Canaan led the scoring for the host with 15 points, while Codi Miller-McIntyre added 14 points and six assists.
Also on Friday, Anadolu Efes fell 82-76 to LDLC ASVEL, Zalgiris Kaunas lost to Real Madrid 83-64, Olympiacos Piraeus overwhelmed Bayern Munich 112-69, and Virtus Bologna edged past Baskonia 76-74.
Olympiacos Piraeus currently leads the standings with a win-loss record of 14-6. ■
