PHNOM PENH, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia had exported 651,522 tonnes of milled rice in 2024, making a total revenue of 491 million U.S. dollars, the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) said in a news release on Saturday.
Fifty-seven companies had shipped the kingdom's milled rice to 68 countries and regions last year, the news release said, adding that China was still one of the main buyers of the commodity.
The Southeast Asian country exported 117,925 tonnes of milled rice to China in 2024, earning 75.6 million dollars in revenue, the news release said.
"About 76.15 percent of the exported milled rice was fragrant rice, 18.7 percent was white rice, 3.1 percent was parboiled rice, 1.78 percent was organic rice, and 0.27 percent was other types of rice," CRF Secretary General Lun Yeng said.
Im Rachna, an undersecretary of state and spokesperson for Cambodia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said China is one of the major markets for Cambodia's agricultural produce.
"The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other friendly countries have significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia's agriculture and brought a lot of benefits to our people, particularly farmers," she told Xinhua. ■
