TASHKENT, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Two people died in a snow avalanche in eastern Uzbekistan, local media reported Thursday, citing emergency services.
According to the report, the accident happened Wednesday on a section of the Tashkent-Andijan-Osh highway, when a group of eight people were going to the mountains for skiing.
One of them fell off while attempting to take a selfie in a restricted area. The second person tried to assist him, but both were caught in a snow slide and died.
Rescue teams arrived immediately and recovered their bodies. ■
