BANGKOK, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ownership transfers of condominiums in Thailand to foreign clients rose 11.6 percent year on year to 3,756 units in the third quarter of 2024, indicating growth in demand from overseas buyers, data showed on Wednesday.

The value of condominium ownership transfers to foreigners in the Southeast Asian country amounted to 18.57 billion baht (about 534 million U.S. dollars) in the July-September period, reflecting an 8.9 percent increase from a year earlier, according to the Government Housing Bank's Real Estate Information Center (REIC).

Foreign-owned condominiums represented 12.0 percent of all units transferred in the cited quarter, up from 11.6 percent in the previous year. By transaction value, the share rose to 23.4 percent from 21.1 percent, the REIC said in a statement.

In the first nine months of 2024, the capital Bangkok and the eastern coastal province of Chonburi saw the highest proportion of condominium units transferred to foreign nationals at 38.7 percent and 36 percent, respectively.
