JERUSALEM, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military said on Monday that one of its soldiers was killed and three others injured in a clash with Palestinian militants in the northern Gaza Strip, where Israeli troops are conducting raids and strikes.
In a statement, the military confirmed the slain soldier as 23-year-old Uriel Peretz, who came from the Israeli settlement of Beitar Illit in the West Bank, adding he "fell during combat" in Beit Hanoun.
Peretz and the wounded soldiers served in the Kfir infantry brigade of the Israel Defense Forces.
Peretz is the 825th Israeli soldier killed since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October last year, according to official Israeli figures. ■
