BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Cangzhou Mighty Lions midfielder Georgiy Zhukov made a plea on social media, calling for public support for his club, which encountering difficulties in gaining official admission to play in next season's Chinese Super League (CSL) due to financial issues.
"Right now the situation is quite tough because we are facing difficulties to get access for the next season," Zhukov wrote.
"So I hope the support that we can change this situation. We are the only team representing Hebei Province and we have many fans in Cangzhou, Shijiazhuang and other cities in China."
Zhukov added that the Cangzhou outfit is entitled to a place in China's top flight.
"We always managed to survive because we deserve to play in the Super League of China."
"We are worth to play in the Super League and it would be a pity that non-football related issues will decide the future," he added.
Cangzhou finished 13th in the 16-team standings in the 2024 CSL season. ■
