BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Manager Gustavo Quinteros parted ways with Velez Sarsfield on Wednesday, less than two weeks after guiding the club to Argentina's Primera Division title.
Velez said the 59-year-old former Bolivia international defender turned down an offer of a new contract amid speculation linking him with Brazil's Gremio.
"Goodbye Gustavo! The coach of the Argentine champion has decided not to renew his contract. We wish him all the best," the Buenos Aires club said in a social media post.
Quinteros oversaw 28 wins, 14 draws and nine losses after taking charge of the club in January.
This month, Velez clinched its first top-flight title in 12 years by beating Huracan 2-0 in the last round of the season. ■
