TOKYO, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Thursday, as Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 437.63 points, or 1.12 percent, from Wednesday at 39,568.06.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 32.92 points, or 1.20 percent, higher at 2,766.78.
On the stock market, gains were led by automakers amid a weaker yen, with Toyota Motor rising sharply after a report the previous day that the automaker aims to double its return on equity target to 20 percent, analysts said. ■
