ISTANBUL, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkish authorities detained 10 people in connection with the munitions factory explosion in Balikesir province, northwestern Türkiye, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc announced on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters in Balikesir, Tunc said preliminary findings showed they were "found to be responsible or negligent."
The minister also emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is underway, and all technical data, including camera footage, has been seized.
"The cause and those responsible will be identified as soon as possible," Tunc added.
The explosion occurred at the munitions factory in Balikesir on Tuesday morning, resulting in 11 fatalities and 7 injuries.
Tunc earlier revealed that a five-member team, consisting of specialists in chemistry, mechanical engineering, occupational safety, and geophysics, has been appointed to determine the cause of the explosion. ■
