KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia will allow the expanded use of solar panels, the government said in updated guidelines released by the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry on Tuesday.
The new guidelines allow the installation of solar panels on the ground and over bodies of water as part of its solar for self-consumption program as long as they are within the user's premises, said a government statement.
Previously the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems was restricted to rooftops.
The 85 percent capacity limit for non-domestic users will also be removed, enabling companies to tap into renewable energy, the ministry said. ■
