RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras has completed the signing of Uruguay international winger Facundo Torres from Orlando City, the Brazilian Serie A side said on Friday.
The 24-year-old ended weeks of speculation by agreeing to personal terms of a deal that ties him to the Sao Paulo-based club until 2029.
"I believe that the greatness of Palmeiras speaks for itself," Torres told Palmeiras' official website. "That is why I am here. I've come because I want to win trophies."
Torres scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 44 games across all competitions for Orlando City this year.
He has been capped 19 times for Uruguay and scored one goal since making his international debut in 2021.
Palmeiras finished second in the 2024 Brazilian Serie A standings with 73 points, six points behind Botafogo. ■
