ISLAMABAD, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Three terrorists belonging to the banned terror group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested during a joint operation in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said in a statement.
The operation was conducted by the CTD and paramilitary troops Rangers on Tuesday, following intelligence reports of planned attacks on security forces, the statement added.
The arrested suspects were allegedly involved in terrorism, targeted killings, and extortion activities, the CTD said.
Security forces also recovered arms, ammunition, and explosive material from their possession.
The detained suspects were handed over to authorities for further investigation, the statement added.
Security forces in Pakistan have intensified operations against extremist groups to ensure stability in the region. ■
