JERUSALEM, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Israel will invest 410 million shekels (about 114 million U.S. dollars) in 55 tourism projects across the country, the Israeli Tourism Ministry said Tuesday in a statement.

The ministry will allocate 230 million shekels, while the rest will be covered by relevant local authorities, the statement said.

The investment is part of the preparations for the return of Israeli and foreign tourists to the Israeli tourist sites, following a near-total halt in tourism in the country caused by the outbreak of Israel's conflict with Hamas and Hezbollah last October, the statement said.

The main tourism projects include heritage centers, promenades, laser shows at special locations, parks, accessibility, attractions, and bicycle paths, among others, it said.
