BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Intermediate Court recently sentenced a Bangladeshi national to two years and eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to house trespass with intent to commit theft, local media reports on Monday.
According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, the defendant entered a house through the back door while its occupants were asleep, intending to steal cash.
The victim was startled awake to find the defendant near her handbag. Her scream alerted her husband, who caught the defendant as he attempted to flee, according to the report. ■
