KAMPALA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Uganda and Tanzania emerged as the winners of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Schools Football Championship.
Uganda, represented by St. Noah Girls School, became the champion in the Girls' category after collecting seven points.
Uganda demolished Rwanda 8-0 in its last match played on Thursday at the St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende, in central Uganda.
The second match saw Tanzania defeat Burundi 1-0 to also tally seven points, but behind Uganda due to an inferior goal difference.
In the Boys' category, Tanzania defeated Rwanda 2-0 to emerge as the champion with a better goal difference than Uganda after the two teams tied on six points.
In the other match of the category on Thursday, Somalia and Burundi settled for a goalless draw.
The tournament attracted five Boys' teams and four Girls' teams. The champion in each category is awarded with a trophy, gold medals and a prize of 100,000 U.S. dollars each. ■
