ISLAMABAD, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province is expected to receive below-average rains this winter due to the changing weather patterns in the country, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said.
"As chilly weather settles, Pakistan and its Balochistan is anticipated to experience a dry and rain-deficient winter this season," Sarfaraz said on Tuesday.
There is no likelihood of rain in December, and the province is expected to endure dry and cold weather throughout the month, the official stated.
He added that while there might be some light rain and snowfall in early January, overall rainfall for the month is likely to remain below average.
Highlighting the potential impact of the prolonged dry spell, he cautioned that it could affect agriculture and water availability in the region.
The chief meteorologist urged residents to take necessary precautions against the cold and prepare for an exceptionally dry winter. ■
