HANOI, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national index of industrial production advanced 8.9 percent year-on-year in November, the General Statistics Office (GSO) has said.
The processing and manufacturing sector, the main driver behind the surge, went up 11.2 percent year-on-year.
The electricity production and distribution sector expanded 5.5 percent, and the water supply and waste management sector increased 6.7 percent.
The mineral exploitation sector reported a year-on-year decline of 9.8 percent in November, said the office.
Meanwhile, the index of national industrial production in the first 11 months of this year rose 8.4 percent year on year.
The increases were reported in 60 localities nationwide and dropped in three others, according to the GSO's report. ■
