TOKYO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani has decided to postpone a visit to South Korea, which was initially planned for late December, Kyodo news agency reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.
If Nakatani's visit took place, it would be the first such trip by a Japanese defense chief to the neighboring country in nine years.
Earlier Wednesday, South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun said he had submitted his resignation to President Yoon Suk-yeol, shortly after the main opposition Democratic Party proposed an impeachment motion against the defense chief over emergency martial law turmoil. ■
