WELLINGTON, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The value of New Zealand's imported international transportation services was 1.7 billion NZ dollars in the September 2024 quarter, according to the statistics department Stats NZ on Tuesday.
Imported air transport services values were up 41 million NZ dollars, while sea transport was down 28 million NZ dollars when compared with the same quarter last year, Stats NZ said.
New Zealand's spending on transportation services in the September 2024 quarter was slightly up by 0.7 percent compared with the September 2023 quarter, it said.
Transportation services comprise expenditures for carrying goods and people into and out of New Zealand, other supporting services, as well as postal and courier services, it added.
"New Zealand spending on sea freight and passenger air transport increased compared with June," Stats NZ international accounts spokesperson Viki Ward said.
The transportation import price index rose 21 percent in the September 2024 quarter compared with the September 2023 quarter, Ward said.
Total services imports were valued at 8.5 billion NZ dollars in the September 2024 quarter, she said. (1 NZ dollar equals 0.59 U.S. dollar) ■
