YANGON, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar police seized 26.35 kg of heroin and 480,000 stimulant tablets in eastern Shan state, state-run daily The Mirror reported on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, the joint anti-narcotics task force searched two vehicles in Yatsauk township of Shan state on Nov. 24, confiscated the drugs from the vehicles, and arrested three suspects, the report said.
Four more suspects were arrested in Pyigyidagun township of Mandalay on the next day for their involvement in the drug trafficking, it said.
The total street value of the seized drugs was over 635 million kyats (about 302,000 U.S. dollars), it added.
The suspects have been charged with the country's laws, with follow-up investigations underway to trace further connections related to the drug trafficking operation, said the report. ■
