HOHHOT, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Austrian snowboarder Sabine Pay and Italy's Maurizio Bormolini secured victories in the women's and men's parallel slalom competitions respectively on Sunday at the FIS Snowboard Alpine World Cup in Chifeng, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Payer prevailed in a close grand final against the world champion Tsubaki Miki of Japan, who took the silver medal in the women's event. Third place went to Julie Zogg of Switzerland, who prevailed in the small final against the previous day's winner Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic.
In the men's competition, Bormolini beat Austria's Benjamin Karl, while Italy's Gabriel Messner finished third.
The competitions were held at the Mylin Valley Ski Resort in Chifeng. The next World Cup for Alpine snowboarders in China is scheduled for next weekend in Yanqing, Beijing. ■
