BERLIN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Jamal Musiala's last-gasp equalizer earned league leader Bayern Munich a 1-1 draw with resilient Borussia Dortmund in the 111th Klassiker at the 12th round in Bundesliga on Saturday.
The Bavarians dominated possession and set the tone from the kick-off, but failed to threaten in the final third, with only Leroy Sane's powerful long-range effort in the seventh minute coming close.
As the game wore on, BVB grew bolder and broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when Nico Schlotterbeck's deep through ball allowed Jamie Gittens to finish from a tight angle after a solo run.
The German giant was stunned and did not recover before the break, while Dortmund almost doubled its lead before the break but Serhou Guirassy blasted it over.
Bayern regained control after the restart and gained momentum when Musiala curled over and Sane fired wide from close range.
Dortmund continued to threaten but was unable to extend its lead as neither Gittens nor Marcel Sabitzer could beat Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer on the hour mark.
Nothing happened until the final period as Dortmund defended deep in its own half, while Bayern was unable to find a way through the host defence.
Dortmund's passivity was punished in the 85th minute when Michael Olise's cross found Musiala, who headed into the bottom left corner to level the scores.
The host had a golden opportunity to snatch a late victory, but Schlotterbeck failed to connect with Pascal Gross' dangerous free kick in stoppage time.
The result leaves Bayern seven points clear at the top of the table, while Dortmund remains fifth.
"The first 20 minutes weren't too bad, but then nothing seemed to go right. Dortmund got a bit of momentum. In the second half we showed character and created chances through dribbling. We didn't stop, we didn't give up and we got the draw," said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.
Elsewhere, Mohammed Amoura's brace helped Wolfsburg to a 5-1 win over Leipzig. Defending champion Bayer Leverkusen moved up to third after a 2-1 win at Union Berlin. Freiburg returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach. Stuttgart came from behind twice to hold Werder Bremen to a 2-2 draw thanks to Ermedin Demirovic, while Augsburg beat Bochum 1-0.
Earlier on Friday, St. Pauli recorded its first win on home soil, beating Holstein Kiel 3-1. ■
