JERUSALEM, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Wednesday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons from Egypt to Israel using a drone.
The drone crossing into Israeli territory was carrying four rifles, five cartridges, and hundreds of bullets, the IDF said, adding the weapons and ammunition were transferred to security forces for further investigation.
It was downed by the IDF's Caracal Battalion, which is tasked with carrying out routine security missions in the Egyptian border area.
The Egyptian side has not commented on this yet. ■
