SHAOXING, China, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- The China Open taekwondo championships opened in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province on Saturday.
The four-day event, sanctioned by the World Taekwondo Federation, attracted over 400 athletes from 13 countries and regions.
Li Chungang, general secretary of the Chinese Taekwondo Association, said that the China Open is one of the highest-level taekwondo events held in the country, hinting that the top Chinese finishers would be considered as the national team candidates.
According to Li, Chinese team is selecting squad for the 2025 Asian Youth Games and 2026 Youth Olympic Games. ■
