BEIRUT, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 11 people were killed and 63 others injured on Saturday in an Israeli airstrike at dawn targeting a residential building in Lebanon's capital Beirut, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported.
The explosions destroyed an eight-story building and caused heavy damage to neighboring buildings.
Civil defense teams are still working on searching for victims under the rubble.
Israeli media outlets reported that the airstrike was aimed at a prominent Hezbollah official. Hezbollah has not commented on the incident.
Since Sept. 23, the Israeli army has intensified its air attack on Lebanon in an escalation of conflict with Hezbollah. ■
