AMMAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Israel's blockade on aid entry into Gaza aims to commit "ethnic cleansing" to displace the population, Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi said here Thursday.
During a press conference following his meeting with visiting European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Safadi said Israel's "aggression" on Gaza has not stopped because it has chosen to challenge international law and reject the decisions of the UN Security Council and international organizations, according to a statement by the ministry.
Safadi described the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, specifically in the north, as "inhumane," the statement said.
Noting Jordan's aid delivery to Gaza and the West Bank, among other humanitarian efforts, Safadi said, "Jordan's position is clear and unwavering ... The efforts continue and will not cease."
He said Jordan is also working to end Israel's "aggression" on Lebanon and to help reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Borrell said Thursday on social media platform X after the meeting that what is going on in Gaza is a "man-made" tragedy and that "the delivery of the needed aid is impeded or denied for futile reason."
"There is no more society in Gaza, but individuals fighting for their survival. No one is safe; nowhere is safe. In the name of humanity, this massacre has to stop," he said. ■
