BAKU, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday called for a "major push" in climate negotiations as the UN climate change conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, draws to a close.
A key task of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which ends on Friday, is to set new financial contribution targets for developed nations to aid the climate efforts of developing countries after 2025.
Guterres emphasized the need for a "surge in finance" to meet Paris Agreement goals and urged negotiators to resolve differences.
A draft text released Thursday showed no consensus on a specific climate funding target. ■
