KABUL, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police discovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in northern Baghlan province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Tuesday.
Policemen found a variety of arms and ammunition, including four Kalashnikovs and nine pistols, thousands of bullets, cartridges, and other military equipment from the unearthed depot, the statement added.
Moreover, police have arrested 11 individuals on the charge of involvement in illicit drug trafficking, sales, and purchases on the outskirts of the provinces of Nimroz, Balkh, Kapisa, Ghazni, Parwan, and Khost, said the ministry.
Some illegal drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, hashish, and about 2,000 stimulant tablets, have been discovered, the source added.
The Afghan caretaker government has banned poppy and hashish cultivation, drug processing and trafficking to eradicate drug menaces across the Central Asian country. ■
