RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped Fiorentina defender Dodo has been called up to Brazil's squad for the team's home World Cup qualifier against Uruguay, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Friday.
The 25-year-old replaces Monaco right-back Vanderson, who is suspended for next Tuesday's clash in Salvador due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
The CBF also recalled Botafogo and former Manchester United left-back Alex Telles following an ankle injury to Guilherme Arana.
Brazil's 1-1 away draw with Venezuela on Thursday leaves the five-time world champion third in the 10-team South American qualifying group, five points behind leader Argentina.
The top six teams will earn an automatic place at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada while the seventh-ranked side will contest an intercontinental playoff. ■
