TEHRAN, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Thursday that four "terrorists" were killed and six others arrested in a counterterrorism operation in the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province.
In a statement published on its official news outlet, Sepah News, IRGC said two of its soldiers were also killed in the operation that was carried out in the province's Rask County earlier in the day.
It added during the operation, its Quds Base units and provincial intelligence department identified the hideout of a "terrorist" group in the county and besieged it for killing and arresting "terrorists."
The Sistan-Baluchestan province, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has been a hotspot for armed groups and drug trafficking networks. On Oct. 26, militants reportedly attacked a border patrol in the region, killing 10 Iranian security personnel. Jaish al-Zulm, designated as a terrorist entity by Iran, has claimed responsibility for the attack. ■
