MEXICO CITY, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and five injured in an armed attack Sunday night at a bar in the municipality of Cuautitlan Izcalli, in the central State of Mexico, local authorities said Monday.
The attack on the bar "Bling Bling," located in the town of San Francisco Tepojaco, "is an isolated event" with no similar precedents in the municipality, the municipal government said in a statement.
"In light of the regrettable events that occurred Sunday night, in the town of San Francisco Tepojaco, the Municipal Government of Cuautitlan Izcalli reports it is fully cooperating with the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico, the Federal Government and the Government of the State of Mexico to carry out the corresponding procedures and guarantee the safety of the citizens," the statement added.
The attack occurred 24 hours after a similar incident in central Queretaro state that saw an armed group attack a bar, killing at least 10 people and wounding 13 others.
Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum on Monday confirmed at a press conference that one suspect had been arrested in connection with the attack in Queretaro. ■
