BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- A stunning second-half strike from Colombia international midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero gave Racing Club a 2-1 home victory over Independiente Rivadavia in Argentina's Primera Division on Sunday.
Victorio Ramis put the visitor ahead with an eighth-minute strike following Sebastian Villa's pass on the counterattack.
The host drew level less than 10 minutes later when Adrian Martinez latched onto Gaston Martirena's cross with a header into the bottom-left corner.
Quintero completed a remarkable comeback by curling a 25-yard free-kick over the wall and into the top-left corner off the fingertips of goalkeeper Ezequiel Centurion.
The result leaves third-placed Racing with 37 points from 22 games, five points behind leader Velez Sarsfield with five games remaining.
Elsewhere, River Plate also remained in the title race with a 3-0 home victory over Barracas Central.
Maxi Meza, Miguel Borja and Paulo Diaz scored second-half goals as Marcelo Gallardo's men clinched their ninth win of the campaign. It was River's third straight victory and leaves the Buenos Aires outfit fourth in the 28-team standings, a point behind Racing.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Talleres Cordoba won 1-0 at Godoy Cruz, and Central Cordoba was held to a 1-1 home draw by Estudiantes. ■
