COLOMBO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's expatriate workers sent 587.7 million U.S. dollars in remittances in October 2024, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
This marks a 13.9 percent increase compared to the same month last year, CBSL data reveals.
Total remittances for the first 10 months of 2024 have surpassed 5.4 billion dollars, reflecting an 11.7 percent increase from the 4.7 billion dollars recorded during the same period last year, data shows.
In 2023, Sri Lankan workers' remittances totaled almost 5.97 billion dollars.
Tourism and workers' remittances are among Sri Lanka's primary sources of foreign revenue. ■
