VIENTIANE, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Inflation in Laos dropped slightly in October to 20.7 percent, down from 21.7 percent in September and 24.3 percent in August, according to the latest report from the Lao Statistics Bureau.
The highest price rise in October was recorded in the medical care and medicines category, which stood at 30.8 percent, according to the Lao Statistics Bureau.
This was followed by the cost of housing, water, electricity and gas category at 29.9 percent, the hotel and restaurant category at 27.5 percent, and the household goods category at 27.3 percent.
Lower exchange rate pressure and changes in world oil prices were some reasons for the decrease in Laos' overall inflation rate. ■
