TEHRAN, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Iranian security and intelligence forces have killed four "terrorists" and arrested six others in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, Sepah News, the official news outlet of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), reported Tuesday.
During a military exercise, the provincial intelligence and police forces as well as operational units of the IRGC's Quds Base jointly dealt "fatal blows" to these terrorists and their groups, which are believed to be "enemy proxies," Sepah News quoted Ahmad Shafaei, spokesman for the exercise, as saying.
Shafaei said as the operational drill, dubbed "Martyrs of Security," went on, a total of eight "terrorists" have been killed and 14 others arrested since Nov. 1.
Among the arrestees were those responsible for the recent deadly attack on law enforcement forces in Sistan and Baluchestan, from whom significant amounts of arms and ammunition, including U.S. weapons, were seized, Shafaei added.
On Oct. 26, Iran's police said 10 members of the country's law enforcement forces were killed in a "terrorist" attack in Taftan County of Sistan and Baluchestan earlier in the day.
Jaish al-Zulm, designated as a terrorist entity by Iran, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
On Sunday, Iran's police said it had killed the "ringleader" of a "terrorist" team behind the attack.
Bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan, Sistan and Baluchestan has witnessed several terrorist attacks on both civilians and security forces over the past years. ■
