LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- A three-day local products exhibition is being held in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province, head of the exhibitions department with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Mawlawi Qabil Mohammad Abid said Wednesday.
Aimed at promoting business and finding markets for locally produced items, the official said that the Afghan caretaker government would continue to support local products and investment in the Central Asian country.
This is for the first time such an exhibition has been held in the southern region of war-ravaged Afghanistan.
More than 60 businesses displayed their products, including handicrafts, agro-produce, and locally manufactured goods, in scores of kiosks at the three-day exhibition, which is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.
Earlier, the Afghan authorities organized such local products exhibitions in the northern Balkh and eastern Khost provinces over the past three weeks. ■
