SKOPJE, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonia's average salary experienced a notable increase in August 2024, driven by substantial growth in key sectors, according to the State Statistics Office (SSO).
The average monthly salary rose by 13.2 percent year-on-year, reaching 61,806 Macedonian denars (1,083 U.S. dollars).
This sharp rise was largely attributed to the education, public administration, entertainment, and defense sectors, which saw significant salary improvements.
Additionally, the highest salaries were recorded in industries such as information and communication, financial and insurance activities, and energy supply, where wages exceeded 80,000 denars.
Despite the strong year-on-year growth, the month-to-month change in the salary index was modest, increasing by just 0.4 percent compared to July 2024. (1 Macedonian denar = 0.018 U.S. dollar) ■
