BEIRUT, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed on Wednesday in a fire at a paper factory, the official National News Agency (NNA) reported.
According to the reports, the Civil Defense teams succeeded in extinguishing the fire after a few hours at the factory, which is located in Jisr al-Basha, Mount Lebanon's Metn District.
It added that the Lebanese Red Cross and Civil Defense teams recovered the bodies and transported them to the Baabda Governmental Hospital.
Meanwhile, Civil Defense Director General Raymond Khattar told local TV channel MTV that several workers trapped in the factory have been rescued. ■
